☆ Only time for sketches [Friday Art]

HOW ARE YOU CREATIVE  WHEN YOU HAVE NO TIME?

It has been a crazy busy week at Casa de Mac. Both Mr Mac and I were down over the weekend with a 24 hour bug. Bug had it too, but she seemed to bounce right back. Mac + I spent the entire weekend moaning on the couch.

Thank goodness for being able to download movies and an all day kids tv channel.

I am sorry to all my PPF friends who popped in last week, who I was unable to visit, but fingers crossed, I will be able to visit everyone this weekend!

We are experiencing crazy weather here at the moment. I mean burning hot winds, humid mornings, hail + wild thunder storms last night + freezing cold temperatures that are reminiscent of winter.

In the middle of one of the wildest storms I have experienced outside of the winter storms in Scotland, Miss Bean graduated from preschool.

She is so grown up now.

And totally ready for big school next year.

So unfortunately there hasn't been a lot of time in the studio for playing.

But earlier this week, I had a couple of minutes waiting for Bean to finish dancing, and had these water colour cards in my diary.

So I pulled them out + doodled a couple of girls. The last one is blank, a little like my brain that day.

These will make really cute gift tags I think.

So how is your Christmas season shaping up? And what creative ideas can you share with me to do in those short blocks of time that I only seem to have at the moment?

By the way, this months give away is up (a little late - sorry!) and ready for your entry. It is totally easy to enter - just click here.

Have a great weekend

☆ Work in Progress

I have been bitten by the productivity bug lately.

I feel more centred, calmer, happier when I create every day.

I can process the day, leave it behind, be a better mother, wife and friend.

A new sketch to share with you.

Have a great day

☆ When Life Gets in the way...

It has been far too long since my last post. But as I am sure you all know from your own experiences, sometimes life just gets in the road of good intentions.

I intended to post my illustration friday sketch last week. I intended to complete my final painting for my M3 willowing course. I intended to start my 'faery hollow' mural/ collage  for the girls play room. I intended to exercise at least four times last week to reach my first weight loss goal. And I intended to plant a heap of flowers in the garden with Bean for a splash of colour.

You know what they say about intentions - "Good intentions are not enough. They've never put an onion in the soup yet. " ~ Sonya Levien

So life, in the guise of dentists, tooth extractions, sick bean, teething bug, blood tests, a starter motor thats caput, visits from aunts & uncles, and an ankle sprained derailed my best intentions. And lets be honest, does anyone want to read about the wisdom tooth that needed to be pulled out and how it cost $200 for two minutes work?? Do you?? Well... maybe some people do ;)

Any way I have seemed to got it together this week, and yes I know it is only Monday, but lets be positive huh??

So the point of this long rambling post is to share some sketches I have been doing in my journal, they are fairly basic, and I have some ideas for them, but not sure where I am ultimately going - but isn't that the best thing about the artistic journey - sometimes you end up somewhere you never dreamed of...

☆ Doctors, Dentists and Drawing.

(AKA Where did our week go??)

We have had a huge week past, full of those yearly check ups, where you spend what feels like hours in waiting rooms - a visit to the health worker for Bug, a visit to the doctor for Bug again, my long procrastinated visit to the dentist (I am sad to say I procrastinated for 10 years!) and another visit to the dentist to yank a wisdom tooth and fill a hole - a process I have to repeat in a months time...

(Little side note: I hate going to the dentist. HATE. IT. Because there was no fluoride in the water when I was small, every time I went I would have to have a filling. My mouth is full of silver...and isn't it funny that even after 10 years of not visiting - some of this time was because we lived in such an isolated part of Scotland - the sound of that drill and the smell wafting into the waiting room made my stomach churn, my hand shake and the sweat bead. And isn't that the most dignified thing ever sweating in the dentist chair!)

So along with the craziness that was our week, I was also able to get a few sketches down on paper.

A wee doodle to reaffirm one of my intentions this year - to love loudly and unreservedly...

The faery Veronique and her companion...

The Angel of Music - Melody...

Raven (sorry for the slightly blurry photo)...

No title yet - suggestions??

Bean and I even managed to make pirate hats and dance to Captain Feathersword (a la the Wiggles)

And dress up for tea parties with dad.

I am hoping that this week is less hectic and that I can put some of these sketches onto canvas.

What did you get up to this week? Did you have fun or do something new?
