☆ Reverse Excavation with Effy Wild [Life Book 2014]

Week 25 - Reverse Excavation with Effy Wild

This was one of the most fascinating lesson that I have completed on my three year Life Book journey.

The reason I say this, is because the number one excuse I hear why people do not find time to be creative (And not just artfully, I am talking creative in general), is this...

"I would love to be creative I just don't have time"

But this weeks lesson from Effy Wild blew that excuse out of the water.

In fact I created this page, in only 15 minutes per day, for one week.

say wha??

Yup. 15 minutes per day for one week.

Now if you are on the Life Book course + have completed this weeks lesson, you will know how amazing it is to see you page come together + actually many of the stages ended up being less than the 15 minutes.

Reverse Excavation - Life Book 2014 week 25; Effy Wilds lesson create in less than 15 minutes per day

I enjoyed this method so much, I think I will be revisiting it, and like Jane Davenports lesson last week, it would be a great + quick warm up when I am feeling rusty!

So do you use the "No Time" excuse when it comes to creating?? Why not challenge your self to 15 minutes per day for the next 7 days + see what you can achieve in that time? I would love it if you shared the results with us....

☆ Commissioned Piece [Friday Art]

Week 27: July 2014

A while ago, I mentioned that I was working on a project, and that I was really excited to have been asked to work on this project.

I was asked to make a few cute cards to send out with a campaign that Schwarzkopf were sending out to ten bloggers.

Once I saw their profiles, I decided to personalise the cards even more and give the girls on the cards similar features and colours to their profiles.

And although my first inclination was to say I couldn't do it - in the time frame given, instead of saying no, I said let me look at it.

So I started to play around with ideas.

And I realised I could do this + in the time frame given.

And they were so well received + such fun to do.

But if I had gone with my first instinct - if I had said no, I would have missed out massively.

Some times you need to check in with your intuition - is your intuition telling you no? Or is it your fear. This time for me it was fear, fear I wasn't good enough, brave enough, worthy enough.

Sometimes, I think you need to ignore your gut.

What do you think? Do you ever check in when your intuition is saying no? What if your intuition was protecting you from the thing that you want most but are afraid to grab?

I would love it if you shared your stories...

Oh + happy 4th of July weekend to all my American friends x

☆ Round Here [June 2014]

Bean asked me today "Mama are we nearly half way through this year?" I was so surprised that we were.

And then I was amazed to realise that yet another month of school, of the day to day routine, painting has passed.

June was a month that I needed to remind myself to be brave...

That bug decided she was going to paint frogs....

A month were I smooshed paint around the page + on my fingers...

A month where we were rewarded for our hard work...

A month where the tea-cup pirate took three weeks to finalise (after sitting in my to be painted pile for six months...

A month were the girls discover mobile phone selfies (oh can't wait for those teenage ones!)....

We discovered these gorgeous trees with their knitted winter jackets. (We walk past these almost every day + only just discovered them)....

A month where we demanded to start feeding ourselves. (And a month I remembered how much I hate this stage)...

A month where I finally had a chance to start a project I have wanted to paint for a while...

A month we realised if we took longer that one second to eat our sweeties we would end up with a coloured tongue....

What did you get up to this month?
