☆ Changes + Challenges [Friday Art]

Changes + Challenges.

Change is never easy. Not for me anyway. Bean going to school is a big change. A welcome change but a huge change just the same.

And with this change comes challenges. Big challenges. Our routine, which we have had for five years + has worked for five years, is changing. And we are all challenged by this

My kids are kind of free range in the morning, they get up, they colour, play draw, they eat breakfast when they want, get dressed when their ready + we go out when it suits us (mostly!)

Now we are time sensitive, I am constantly nagging everyone to eat up, put their shoes on + clean their teeth.

I don't like nagging….

I also don't like loosing the relaxed and easy mornings where we can have french toast if we want to, where we can stay in our jimjams until late, where we can lay on the floor colouring if we want.

Changes and Challenges.

And as much as I want to rebel against these changes, I can't. We have to adjust + work through the challenges that we will face.

Are you facing challenges or changes in your life? Art journalling (like above) is now on of the main ways I deal. How do you cope with change + work through your challenges.

  1. I'm sure you just need some time to adjust and all will be well. :) Love your painting!

  2. Beautiful piece! The words look beautiful too! Anytime I try to add words it always looks so sloppy to me.

  4. I think art journaling is such a great way to deal with our emotions and what we may be going through. I remember going thru all the phases with our son. Know that each new phase or challenge will bring its own joy :) Gorgeous painting and lettering!

  5. homeschool is an option - but brings it's own "stuff". You can be relaxed but you still have to accomplish school. I did it for a couple of years but had some trouble getting started in the mornings. Change is all around - no one likes it but most everyone does it. It is nice when the kiddos are young and there is no pressure.

  7. Wonderful painting!! You'll be amazed at how quickly the new routines will become easy. You can now make the later parts of the day your "free range" time - I LOVE that phrase, btw! I also resist change, but life is all about changes - especially with children in the mix! Embrace the newness of every day! Happy PPF!

  9. Thanks Mari, I did this because I was frustrated with the hair when I painted it, and it was an easy solution to hide it!! ;)

  14. OH Giggles! Home schooling is just not for me - as much as I love the idea of it! I have a friend who home schools + she is doing an awesome job. And the school Bean is going to is amazing, it's really the pick up + drop off's that we struggle with now (+ our extreme tiredness!) xx

  15. I think I would struggle with home schooling - I think I'd be like 'oh how awesome is the day, lets go to the pool, or the park' and neglect the subjects I found dry or boring. Art lessons wouldn't be neglected though!! x

  17. I now how you feel about the daily grind, and I also know how important our art is to help us to cope. Your lettering is very beautiful, I like the white dots.

With that change comes some amazing things. When your child can read his/her first book, or comes home all excited about learning about butterflies, or meets a new friend and giggles for minutes on end as he/she plays, are just a few things to look forward to!

    Thanks for sharing!
