☆ Midsummer Night [Illustration Friday]

The first thing that sprung to my mind when I saw this weeks Illustration Friday prompt - besides the fact that we are in the depths of winter here and inspiration was short in coming from that perspective, was Shakespeare's 'Midsummer Night's Dream'

I never studied this play at school but I went through a phase where I was obsessed with Dead Poet's Society, (O captain, my captain. sigh!), and this play was integral to the book/ film.

So here is my interpretation of Titania, Queen of the faeries.

"I know a bank where the wild thyme blows,
Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows,
Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine,
With sweet musk-roses and with eglantine:
There sleeps Titania sometime of the night,
Lull'd in these flowers with dances and delight;
And there the snake throws her enamell'd skin,
Weed wide enough to wrap a fairy in.."
