Week 14 2014
It's a catch 22.
I have crap loads of work to do, a weeks worth of posts to flesh out, a give away to draw, a newsletter to write, I need to get some painting in, cause my soul is crying out for it + lets decide last minute throw make a video for the launch of Listening to your Squeak.
But it's also my nan's 94th birthday, a birthday we weren't 100% sure she was going to make, and my fabulous cousin + her kids are coming to stay for the weekend + I haven't see her since last year + I am desperate to spend some quality time with her.
A catch 22.
This life is a juggling act at the best of times, but this weekend, I wasn't sure I was going to be able to fit it all in.
I rediscovered something about myself, that since leaving the work force to care for my babies, I had forgotten.
I work best under pressure.
I don't have time to check my emails, or Facebook, or read that book, or play that bloody addictive app on my iPad that has sucked away hours of my life.
Under pressure I sit down, concentrate + smash it.
Instead of the day it can take to write the newsletter, it took me two hours.
Instead of deciding I didn't have enough time in half hour to paint, I splashed some paint on the page + ended up with something I love.
So this weeks friday art is this cute little blue haired girl + her mane of feathers.
And although it too a little more that half hour to do (Mac ended up doing the school run that day so I squeezed in another half hour)
So my question to you is, how much time do you spend procrastinating? Now I think most of the time my procrastination is beneficial, but it certainly doesn't hurt to review how much time you DONT spend on the things that are most important to you. What do you think?
I'm the queen of "useful" procrastination. I watch videos on youtube to learn do things I "will" do, reading beautiful posts in lovely blogs, loosing hours and hours in "searching".... But the thing is I work better under pressure, too. So, at some point, when things can't wait anymore, I start running and everything is done.... Your blue haired girl is one of your best!!! I love her!!! Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteyour blue haired girl is so very lovely-especially with the red feather crown. I think(or at least am hoping) that with our hard winter over I will procrastinate less and be more productive. I'm even thinking I may need to account for everything I spend my time on from morning to night-just to scare myself a bit :)
ReplyDeleteSometimes under pressure wonderful creations appear and then sometimes not so wonderful, I think it depends on many varying factors. You on the other hand is another story, your gal is beautiful with her deep blue eyes.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful time with your family!
Annabelle : )
I don't spend much time procrastinating but I do find I am productive in fits and spurts... Amazing that this only took two hours... Great finished product
ReplyDeleteShe's lovely, all her colors are wonderful. I especially like that background. She does look a little worried! haha I had to divide my time and sort myself out. I work from home now and after awhile of floundering around and doing to much in one day I split it all up each week so I can breathe and let some things go!
ReplyDeleteHappy Paint Party Friday!

What a beauty! I love the dress design and her pretty crown of feathers.
ReplyDeleteI really like your little princess. Well done in 30 minutes. I NEVER procrastinate! I have a husband who does and it drives me crazy. LOL
ReplyDeleteNot sure how I missed this beautiful girl last week! I remember the moment my daughter was a few months old and I promised myself not to procrastinate....and for years I didn't. But now I do..... because I can or need to or have too! I prioritize things that mean the most to me now. Family first!
