☆ Friendships + Hearts Desires [inspiration avenue]

This year I came out to my friends - as an artist that is.

At first I was tentative. Unsure. And yes, I was absolutely freaking out.

But I had lunch with some friends who I have known for twenty years, had a drink or two for courage and blurted out that this year I wanted to open an etsy store

Although it was something that I had been thinking of for years, for them it was a total surprise. They knew I painted and yet, they were (and still are) some of my biggest supporters.

It has been easier since that day to confide in friends. And although I am still crap at talking about my painting, I am more at ease with sharing my art with people. And the more I share, the more confident I become.

So in response to this weeks inspiration avenue prompt, (celebrating friendships), I thought about my various friendships and what,  for me, makes the best of friends.

And I realised, for me, at the very heart of friendship is some one who will keep safe your hearts deepest desire.

And those that can't or wont - well they become acquaintances.

I would love to know what you think is at the core of friendships. What for you makes the best of friends? Feel free to share in the comments below.

  7. I read your post and I immediately thought of one of Danielle Laporte's recent posts:

Care more about being accurately and precisely who you are, than caring what someone might think about you.

Be daring enough to tell us—your customers, your fans, your people—about your deep desires and ambitions, because weʼll be the ones to help you fulfill them.

You don’t have to be fearless. Just be sincere.

    1. Marji - That is awesome (I often read her posts but missed that one!) I recently watched the movie 'We bought a zoo' and they talk about 20 seconds of courage. All you need is that 20 seconds and I loved that concept. Danielle Laporte's post reminds me of that.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing Danielle's inspiring post x

  8. The core of friendship is about laughing ... and making a good cup of tea... and providing chocolate when needed... it is a big step to come out and admit what you want to be but if they don't like it or support you then they should be booted to the curb no matter who they are.. xx

    1. Chocolate is a definite must for friendship!! You are so right - unsupportive friends are not who we should be surrounding ourselves with! Thanks for stopping by x

  9. Don't hesitate to make this a card!! The inside should say and " you do all that and more for me!!"

I love it!! I also understand how timid one can be to share such an intimate part of our self such as creativity!! Thirty years ago my friend came out to me about her writing.... I felt honored that she shared it with only me!! I then told her about my writing. We both had the same secret!! Glad you were able to share!! If any one bucks you, just carry on....some people are envious!

    1. Giggles - what a great idea, I love your inspired inside quote too!! That is so cool that you and your friend had the same secret. Being able to share your frustrations and delights must be so rewarding.

      Thanks for popping in! x

  16. Your art is fantastic. She is so adorable. I have friends, best friends and Sister Friends. Sister Friends are those who know you inside and out (no matter the length of the friendship) and who would always be there and would do anything for you. We can finish each others sentences, we just know each other. Best friends are those that go away sometimes but always come back. And friends are people you are friendly with but don't necessarily pal around with. That's My Life. Blessings Janet PPF
