☆ Book [Illustration Friday]

I am just back from a 'mini' break in Canberra - a nice relaxing time with family and friends, a birthday party for two year olds, carousal rides, and gorging myself on sushi at the local sushi train restaurant.

I didn't have a huge amount of time to pack for the weekend for me + the girls, so at the last minute I throw in just a few art supplies.

And this is so unusual for me.

Because I am an in case girl.

I will pack just in case. What if I want to do this? - I will throw it in just in case. What if I want to read this book? Throw it in.

(Mr Mac and I came to an understanding years ago, that if we have enough space for 'incase' items, then I will pack them. And he will not make any snide comments to our friends or family about kitchen sinks.)

So because I was so rushed packing, this weekend I had a small set of watercolours, two brushes, a black biro, a few colour pencils, a white gel pen, a led pencil, and an eraser.

That's it.

No safe black markers, or acrylics, or tiny paint brushes.

So this weeks illustration friday painting was completed with these few bits and pieces, and I have to say, it was kind of liberating!

My original idea for this post was to talk about relaxing, and reading, and lying in the sun, and asking you guys what great books you've read lately, but actually what I really want to know is what essential art supplies do you take away with you? What can you not do with out? Let me know in the comments below.

  3. I love her! As a mixed media artist my "Artist On The Go" kit includes: watercolor pencils and water brushes, a few acrylic paints and cosmetic sponges, washi and masking tape, stencils, black stazon ink and a few stamps, glue stick, scissors, black and white pens, a few regular paint brushes, mechanical pencil and eraser, a rag and baby wipes and an envelope of "collage worthy" items.
