☆ Mermaid [a page from my sketchbook]

Last week I shared with you a work in progress that I had started in my sketch book. A yellow- eyed mermaid.

(I seem to be fascinated by yellow eyes. They seem so piecing to me.)

Using acrylics, water colours, water soluble wax pastels, water colour crayons, ink + pencils, she is finally finished.

And it felt great to just let go, and to spend some time contemplating her and what I actually felt like using.  It feels good to let go and play - which is really the whole point of my sketchbook.

I just forget that sometimes.

Have you played lately? Or have you, like me, been walking a set path + been caught up in your 'way' of doing things? I would love to hear your stories.

  1. She is gorgeous! Love those beads! I haven't been playing lately, because I'm really short in time. And when I don't have much time I tend to do things like I always do, because it's just easier and faster. But it doesn't bring as much joy, I'll admit that ...

    1. I know what you mean! It is totally easier to just do what is comfortable (and fast!). I always so to myself 'ok this thursday I will just play' but then it seems like work doesn't it!! Thanks for popping in x
