Last week I share with you a half finished painting.
And I have to say it was a bit iffy in the middle there.
Had I done the right thing collaging the hat?
Should I have resisted the stars?
Why were they not working?
In the end I persisted + I am pretty pleased with the out come!

I think the harder I work at a painting the more satisfaction I have when it is completed. As if it has earned my respect?
I would love to know your take on difficult paintings or projects. Do you feel more proud, more respect, more something for the ones that give you trouble?
By the way, this months give away is up earlier this month. For a chance to win an original (+ fun) painting from my 2012 collection click here
I do feel very attached to the ones that were difficult but I solved the problems and made it to the end... such a great feeling... this one has come together so beautifully...xx
ReplyDeleteI love this work, it is both clever and amusing. I also admire your staying power, it really paid off

It's wonderful and well worth whatever difficulties you had in the middle.
ReplyDeleteI tend to go through a point on pieces that have taken a really long time (which all of my stipples ink portraits do) where i get weary of it but then i feel so much satisfaction when the final ink dot has been placed and it was all worth it!
this is a dear painting, love it!
ReplyDeleteso glad you kept on. Often I find that if I keep at it, something I didn't like becomes one of my favorites. I really like this one! Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great painting. Definately worth persisting with!! My own favorite pieces are the one I feel I have achieved dispite feeling unsure about and the 'happy accidents' where I learn a new technique along the way!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful ending after a tough journey!! Yes I love the ones that give me trouble only when I solve the problem though...many are abandoned. Very brave to carry on!! She was so worth it!

Wonderful work! I'm in love with her hair ....
ReplyDeleteIt came out wonderfully in the end...love your work!
ReplyDeleteI think it depends on my mood -- sometimes I want to work with things that flow, other times I REALLY want a challenge. I think it's important when working on a challenging piece to keep from getting frustrated and set it aside when it feels likes it's time to throw it away. I'm lucky, my husband often saves works from the trash for me. Some, I have to sneak into the trash behind his back. Since I've been browsing the PPF gallery I'm now saving pieces I couldn't finish to my liking to collage, which is going to be my next challenge. The tiger's expression is priceless. Great work!
ReplyDeleteThis is soooo beautiful!!! I feel very proud about the "difficult" ones, especially when they had been something that I thought I could never do!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work! I love the expressive faces and gestures - I can feel what your characters are portraying. Well done!
