Every Saturday, I spend a half hour or so planning out the week. With three kids, me + Mr Mac, I find if I don't plan out some of the week, I drift aimlessly and don't feel like I have accomplished anything - except for changing out of my jim-jams in the morning.
So when I was planning out the week, I had this very cool idea for a painting, which I had planned to do when the big girls were in school on Thursday. But I didn't realise that it was ANZAC day, so the girls didn't have school + we ended up at my mums for a BBQ in the autumn sun.
Of course, you never have a BBQ in the sun, that lasts less than two hours (well at least we don't!) and so the day had gone before we knew it.
Although I was slightly disappointed not to start on my big idea, I managed a few hours that night + played in my sketch book. One of the lessons coming up in Lifebook is a tonal paintings, using a select few colours + so I decided to have a wee play with an idea before I started that lesson.
Do you plan you week? Do you verge on OCD (like me??) or are you a go with the flow person? I would love to know how you plan your week.
The painting is just gorgeous and I hope you get started on your idea soon. :) I'm one of those who aimlessly go through their days. :) I have a sort of an idea what I have to do through the day but I often forget.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to be able to spend time with your mum. I love your girl and her tattoo

you're girlie has an apprehensive look on her face-kinda like "is that a spider I see over there on the wall?" :) I used to be a pretty detailed planner but that all went out the window-esp. that I don't have to juggle working and raising a child any longer. Happy PPF!
ReplyDeletei loosely plan my week unlike when i had a school aged child at home. mostly i know i will paint every day now. :) happy ppf
ReplyDeleteHi Kirsten, LOVE your girl, she's fabulous!! I am also OCD, but not on the verge, I'm all the way in...lol I have learned to go more with the flow with my art time but still struggle with trying to schedule everything. It's really a balancing act but I manage ok unless I get super stressed. Have a great weekend! xo
ReplyDeleteWonderful image!
ReplyDeleteI love how the flowing hair fills the majority of the composition!
I do plan a bit each Sunday evening and at the beginning of each month, too. :)

Happy PPF!!

Your girl is precious, adore her eyes! Hope you get time to start on your idea, look forward to seeing it on canvas.
ReplyDeleteI usually go with the flow and hope to achieve a step, never the stairwell, then I'm happy and content with my progress on the project. When I try to rush something it usually spells disaster : )
Lovely painting...but I am your biggest fan!! The days of planning are long gone for me...but I used to plan a lot when I was young... I planned to make meals that lasted a few days.... I had quite a routine to fit everything in with very little sleep...now not so much, thank goodness!! You do have to plan when you have little ones....sticking to it is the key...

Your journalgirl looks beautiful, as always .... I make todo-lists every day, but put so much on there that I'm never able to finish it, so by the end of the week I'm doing the todo-lists of a whole week .... I have learned to schedule in painting time, because otherwise life gets in the way and I get cranky because I haven't been able to play ....
ReplyDeleteyour beautiful girls are always a joy...love the angular streaming hair! and I guess I am usually a 'go with the flow' kinda person, but I have been known to work on a particular project with some research & planning. like my fake journal. except I'm not sure where it's going from here...happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteLovely, those eyes - awesome! <3
ReplyDeleteWonderful! Awesome eyes and pouty lips.
ReplyDeleteI do both: plan - then go w the flow...
Love your girl. What you said about planning the week is so true. I feel if I organise and plan the days I achieve more than an unplanned week.
ReplyDeleteI feel like your girl is saying "hey- what did you do with my time!" Hope you get z good block of it this week. But what you did with no time is pretty great! Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteFabulous work...love the expression in her eyes!
ReplyDeleteShe's SO lovely! Such fab big green eyes too.
ReplyDeleteYes, I do plan the week - it doesn't always get done, but I have a schedule of my days and try to accomplish at least one thing (whatever that is) daily. Sometimes it all we can do :)
