So another friday + another Paint Party.
This week I managed to get a few hours in my studio - despite it being the third week since our wee beasties arrival.
[I have this theory which has proved correct for all my children - that you start to feel yourself again, feel like your on top of this whole parenting + new baby thing, and then in week three it all falls apart. Have any of you guys, who are parents, experienced this phenomenon?? For every one of my girls this has happened!]
Any way, I started this painting late last year and finished it off this week.
It was so good to have the paint flowing again, on the page + on my hands! I am hoping now week three is nearly over there will be more afternoons in the studio.
It always feels good to get something finished off... and it feels even better when it turns out so well...xx
ReplyDeleteNice that you didn't give up on an old painting start. It turned out beautifully. Happy PPf
ReplyDeleteGood work! 'Glad you were able to get back to your art so soon. That's wonderful!
ReplyDeleteAwe this is the sweetest painting ever!! Love it...very fittingly matches your words perfectly. I love it when that happens... Hope it gets a little smoother in the next while. Lovely piece! Great that you were able to get back to painting! <3
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the arrival of your wee beastie!! I've been without proper internet access for ages now since we moved house and this is the first day I've been properly back at my blog and reading others so I had no idea you'd had a baby!! I'm sure you'll have your hands full now so lots of admiration your way for finding time to paint as well!!
ReplyDeleteIt's good to take little breaks, but it is so comforting to return to your work - even when you have been up every night for what seems like a century . enjoy the baby and your 'stolen' art time - Happy Ppf !
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet portrait painting.

ReplyDeleteMe too...I love those big beautiful eyes. Lot's of character in your people. Thanks for sharing your work. Hugs for the baby!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful painting-and yes, I'm always drawn in by the big soulful eyes :)
ReplyDeleteHave you discovered the 3 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months "frequency days" when baby is cranky/fussy/inconsolable and STARVING for a day or two?? Seemed to happen with all my (7) beasties...and with many of my friends' babies as well...
ReplyDeleteHang in there Mama--life will get more coherent soon :-)
this is just a sweet painting! so glad to hear that you are able to paint again... coming from PPF. have a great day!

ReplyDeleteSo happy you were able to eek out a little time for painting! I simply adore this image. Have a great week, Kirstin. I hope it's a quiet one :-) - janice
ReplyDeleteThat is a terrific painting. I am always in awe of moms who take care of more than 1 child (which I found difficult enough). Good that you got some time to paint! HPPF

ReplyDeleteYour gorgeous art perfectly matches your thoughts and emotions...absolutely love it :)...I hope this comment gets published coz the earlier one faced some error :)
ReplyDeletesimply gorgeous painting! as for children and new babies, most of the time I felt I was just 'keeping my head above water!' and did very little art while they were growing up. I turned to needlework instead, which I could lay down and pick up at a moment's notice. not like the clean-up of paint. now they're grown. the time passes all too quickly. do enjoy it while you can. and Bravo for continuing to paint!!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back to the creative world of art. A very beautiful painting, glad the UFO is finally completed. Blessings, Janet PPF
ReplyDeleteLike I've mentioned before, you really should contact the UNICEF to submit some of your work. If they're interested, people would be able to buy cards and support the charity, while your work will get across to sooo many other people than are usually in your customer circle. These motifs speak to the core of motherhood - I get all warm and fuzzy inside, but also more aware of how tight-knit my girl and I are - we're on a totally different level that my son and I, but don't worry, we have a profound connection as well! But mother/daughter... Weird and wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI too had to log in recently, but I didn't have a baby ;) Congratulations!

I agree Helena - there is something between a mother + her daughter that is different than between her son. (although I don't have a boy, many of my friends comment on the difference)
DeleteThank you so much for the UNICEF suggestion. I had a quick look at their website over the weekend, but will have a longer look later this week. x
