☆ Paint Party Friday

Wow - you know you have been away too long from your blog when you have to log in again!!

So another friday + another Paint Party.

This week I managed to get a few hours in my studio - despite it being the third week since our wee beasties arrival.

[I have this theory which has proved correct for all my children - that you start to feel yourself again, feel like your on top of this whole parenting + new baby thing, and then in week three it all falls apart. Have any of you guys, who are parents, experienced this phenomenon?? For every one of my girls this has happened!]

Any way, I started this painting late last year and finished it off this week.

It was so good to have the paint flowing again, on the page + on my hands! I am hoping now week three is nearly over there will be more afternoons in the studio.

  6. Congratulations on the arrival of your wee beastie!! I've been without proper internet access for ages now since we moved house and this is the first day I've been properly back at my blog and reading others so I had no idea you'd had a baby!! I'm sure you'll have your hands full now so lots of admiration your way for finding time to paint as well!!

  7. It's good to take little breaks, but it is so comforting to return to your work - even when you have been up every night for what seems like a century . enjoy the baby and your 'stolen' art time - Happy Ppf !

  16. Have you discovered the 3 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months "frequency days" when baby is cranky/fussy/inconsolable and STARVING for a day or two?? Seemed to happen with all my (7) beasties...and with many of my friends' babies as well...

Hang in there Mama--life will get more coherent soon :-)

  23. That is a terrific painting. I am always in awe of moms who take care of more than 1 child (which I found difficult enough). Good that you got some time to paint! HPPF

  26. simply gorgeous painting! as for children and new babies, most of the time I felt I was just 'keeping my head above water!' and did very little art while they were growing up. I turned to needlework instead, which I could lay down and pick up at a moment's notice. not like the clean-up of paint. now they're grown. the time passes all too quickly. do enjoy it while you can. and Bravo for continuing to paint!!

  28. Like I've mentioned before, you really should contact the UNICEF to submit some of your work. If they're interested, people would be able to buy cards and support the charity, while your work will get across to sooo many other people than are usually in your customer circle. These motifs speak to the core of motherhood - I get all warm and fuzzy inside, but also more aware of how tight-knit my girl and I are - we're on a totally different level that my son and I, but don't worry, we have a profound connection as well! But mother/daughter... Weird and wonderful!

I too had to log in recently, but I didn't have a baby ;) Congratulations!

    1. I agree Helena - there is something between a mother + her daughter that is different than between her son. (although I don't have a boy, many of my friends comment on the difference)

Thank you so much for the UNICEF suggestion. I had a quick look at their website over the weekend, but will have a longer look later this week. x
